Is John McCain Really Pro-Life?
Tom Piatak has this commentary on the Taki’s Top Drawer: ". . . what can pro-lifers really expect from a President McCain? The answer, I fear, is what they got from the first President Bush—unenthusiastic lip service, and little more. Notably, neither McCain nor Bennett and Leibsohn mention McCain’s enthusiastic support for federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research."

Assuming, arguendo only, that the writer’s opinion and prediction of McCain’s future conduct once in office did turn out, unfor5tunately in my view, to be correct, the real live question this year remains whether we pro-life voters would really rather have the next Supreme Court justice appointed by McCain, who likes Chief Justice Roberts, or by Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, both of whom are strongly pro-abortion and make that position a litmus test for confirmation of judicial appointees, even at the district court level which has no power to do anything about the issue.
