From China and Latvia, duped women trafficked as sex slaves



Lucy Adams reports in the Herald (2.14.2008):

Natasha was 18 when she decided she wanted to leave Latvia and study in the UK . . .When she arrived, she was taken to a flat by a man called Alex. There she was raped and forced to become a prostitute. She was a prisoner and he made it clear he knew how to find her family.

The Herald has another report today titled: Trafficking Misery. And, Mangolorian.com has a report titled, UN forum against human trafficking opens in Vienna, "Activists said that human traffickers were making an estimated $31.6 billion annual profits from the plight of their victims. People from 127 countries were trafficked into 137 countries."
